Emberwood is a forest‑management puzzle where you balance wildfire containment and natural regrowth. Your objective is to place firebreaks and water sources on a grid so that a spreading fire is contained before it reaches ancient trees – each contained outbreak earns regrowth points that you use to restore burned areas. The final goal is to protect the Heartwood, the oldest tree in the forest.
The campaign features 240 outbreak maps, divided into six woodland zones – from birch groves to redwood stands. Early maps have small fire fronts and generous water supplies; later maps involve multiple simultaneous outbreaks, wind shifts that accelerate spread, and limited water reserves. We introduce “seasonal fire risk” updates that adjust starting conditions based on virtual weather patterns.
The visuals are rich and atmospheric: dappled sunlight through canopies, glowing embers, and a dynamic smoke layer that thins as you succeed. The grid is overlaid with topographical contours, and fire spreads with realistic, flowing animations. Controls are point‑and‑click, with clear indicators for water coverage and fire intensity.
A “ranger’s warning” highlights the most threatened trees, and you can earn “sapling tokens” to unlock different forest backdrops. Offline saving is automatic, and you can replay any outbreak to improve your containment strategy.
